My Uttarakhand Travel 2021, Must Knows and Must Do’s before travelling to Uttarakhand in 2021

Just trying getting back on the back of my blogging wagon would like to add on some view points about my trip to Uttarakhand that would help anyone who may be travelling or planning to travel to the state

Basic Knows Before Travel :
Owing to the covid times it is mandatory to get a RCPTR (Covid Test) done 72 hours prior to scheduled flight/Train.If not done then then the respective authorities will ask you to take one at applicable charges. It is preferable to get it done from one’s end. People staying for more then 5 days in the state may get asked to redo the RCPTR test at the airport owing to the time lapse on earlier report. Also a mandate is to download the Arogya Setu app to keep apprised about new government covid guidelines.

Must do’s :
° Bungee at Jumpin Heights in Rishikesh is a must do for all the thrill enthusiasts. It is a 83 meters free fall that is claimed the be Asia’s highest Bungee point. The whole experience that sends chills down your spine initally but is a worthwhile experience if your are seeking some adrenaline rush. The people at Jumping heights are thorough professionals at their work with certified training. This whole experience would cost one rs 3500 plus an additional 900 if you desire to get a video of the same as well. They have other activities like Giant swing and Flying fox which are also equally enthralling. Please find their site link herewith http://jumpinheights.com to help you on additional details. It is wiser to book your slots a week prior and reach the location at the earliest as it is on first come first serve basis.

° River Rafting at Rishikesh (Tapovan) is also a must do for adventure lovers craving some gut wrenching experience into the wild waters of the Ganges cradle. Our guide at Outbound Adventures was super friendly and motivating us throughout the whole experience. They have different distances which may vary duration and cost wise, which one may choose to curate according to their preferences. Also this experience includes a cliff dive which adds on to overwhelming total experience. This is one surreal experience which is a must do and hence a recommendation. Leaving their website details herewith for further information.Outbound Adventures -https://www.riverraftinginrishikesh.co/

° Ganga Aarti (Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh) was recommended by our driver which turned out to be a blissful experience during the sunsets at the Ghats of Rishikesh. It is an experience worth absorbing with the devotional enchants mesmerizing ganga visuals. PS – There’s a lot of street food (Chats & Tikkis)to explore along the banks. The laxman Jhula adjacent to the banks has a stunning visual during the night resembling sorts of a necklace should not be missed for sure.

Food for Thought (Places to Explore):
° Landour Bakehouse (Landour, Mussoorie) – Must explore place for the vibe and the colonial wood work and architecture. Not to take away any credit from delicious foods that they have at offer which will explode your taste buds wanting one for more. You may check their various range of cake and pattiserie on menu before visiting. PS – You might want to get some organic Jams & Chutneys native to the place from Prakash, adjacent to Bakehouse.

° Char Dukan Cafe (Landour, Mussoorie) – Here the range of food from Pancakes to waffles is just mouth watering and an delight to the eye which adds to its pleasant chilly climate of the area.

Essentially would have ended the blog but people who want to know about my Travel Itenerary, below is for your reference which y’all may choose to curate as per your need:

Later we headed to visit The Eco park in Dhanaulti for a sunset experience. After an exhausting day and tummies empty we thought of exploring Landour Bakehouse & Rokeby Manor on our way back.
(Stay – Hotel Krishna Palace, Mussorie)

5th Day – We headed towards Dehradun airport for our flights scheduled later in the evening not before exploring Robbers Cave enroute. Also incase you intend to get some bakes goodies for family and friends, I suggest “Ellora’s Melting Momemts in Dehradun”.

To give a final review I would say that overall this place was adventurous and enjoyable with above average expenses. My personal favourite was the Buggy ride & Roller Zorb to be honest. Prefer to visit with a large group as it makes it cheaper because they have good offers lined up for the same. A tad bit disappointed as one had to wait quite long hours to do an activity as the harnesses & safety kits were lesser than number of people. There are locker facilities as well which one can avail of at the location.

Some activities only are for all age groups. As it is an adventure park it’s not advisable for people with health issues. The Restaurant and facilities turned out to be top notch. Brilliant place for a day trip with friends & family but I found it overcrowded as we had been there on the weekend & preferably to go on the weekdays to cover all the activities.

My Journey to the Sula winery’s in Nashik

Being a lay person when it comes to wines, So, when the opportunity to visit Nashik for a wedding came up I had a curious inclination to know more about the Sula Winery & it’s yester year’s.

So me & my two friends left our places as early as 6:30 am from the suburbans of Mumbai to undertake a long three and a half hour car journey to reach Nasik which is about 170 kms from Mumbai. A non-eventful drive through the ghats and toll booths got us to the wine capital of India. Our only stop till Nasik was the breakfast break when hunger pangs became louder than the perpetually blaring horn. So we happened to stop at the famous Shree Datta Snacks in paghda on our way. After a sumptous breakfast we headed on to Vatsalya lawns for the wedding. As decided post the euphoria of the wedding we got freshen up & headed to Sula wines which was a 48 kms drive at an approximate travel time of 1 hour & 7 minutes. All the enthusiasm that had dwindled with the long journey sprung back as we saw the sigh boards pointing us to the vineyard.

Sula in Nasik is one of the most popular and accessible winery. It is an extensive property running into acres of lush green grape trees. Also, the wine is made and bottled at the same location. We opted for the escorted tour of the winery, including touring the processing rooms and tasting varied wines. We were told about the grapes grown here, how the wines got thier specific names; how white and red wine is processed and bottled separately. Most of us were weighed down with the pungent reek of fermenting grapes and honestly I was glad to leave the processing room and step out into the greenery again.

Back to the tasting room, we had fun. Three of us lined up against the bar counter and had the wine glasses arranged before us. Guess, group dynamics work best at the bar when wine is being served. We all waited patiently while we were served but then the three glasses were tucked in quickly – dont think most of us paid any attention to the aesthetic surroundings.

There are plenty of other tempting wine varieties to choose from such as chenin blanc, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, etc.

After this we all went for lunch to Little Italy; the restaurant on the Sula property. Its an open air Italian place which serves amazing wood fired pizza. So we happened to order our Nachos with humus & cheesy fries which turned out to be lip smacking. Although the pasta, lasagne, risotto also looked as good, if not better.

It was already late in the evening, so we just settled down on the lush grass and watched a spectacular sunset over the hills into the river. Away from the noise and bustle of the city, in the calm green surroundings gazing out across the horizon, the feeling of contentment came easily. We delayed our return and stretched going back as much as possible. Finally when all of us ran out of all possible excuses, we reluctantly gathered back into the car on our way back to the Mumbai that bought an end to an eventful day with lots of travel, good food, good company & some exquisite wine tasting.
